- A 10-minute walk down the beach brings you to Frederico’s snorkeling spot, and a 20 minute walk from Mamolis snorkeling spot.
- Game drives at Gorongosa national park– 30 minutes away, where you can have a day picnic around one of the lakes, and if you are lucky you might sight the elephants.
- Alternatively deep sea fishing, scuba diving and ocean safaries – Ask the manager to organise.
- Quad bikes, surfboards, and kite surfing equipment can be hired and lessons are available in Ponta do Ouro.
- Turtles lay their eggs between November and February, which you can witness if you take a stroll on the beach in the evenings after dark. The hatchlings make their way to the ocean from January to March.
- Humpback and Southern Right Whale sightings are prolific from July to November. Pods of dolphins can be seen all year round.
- If you wanting to get to the hustle and bustle then it’s a mere 25-minute drive to Ponta Malongane Village where there are various restaurants.
- Ponta do Oura is 55min away. In Ponta do Ouro you will find a bottle store, BCI bank (local Mozambican Bank), surf shops, fishing tackle shop, pharmacy, internet cafe, petrol station, a colourful food market where you can buy fruit and vegetables grown locally, alcohol, cigarettes, prawns, bread and the like.
- The local currency is the Mozambican Metical, but everyone welcomes Rands.
